Red Letters was the theme for Bayside’s Easter Service. The service was inspired by the song, Red Letters, by: DC Talk.
I was going for a classic meets contemporary design. To make that look and feel I used a series of techniques. First I used burlap to make my classic fabric swags. Second, for the backdrop I used a projector that was placed in the back of the room that I used to sketch out the text that I wanted. Then we precisely painted the text with metallic gold paint.
I used a layout that was not symmetrical but balanced by the other side. For example I made the stage wings angled to shift the eyes toward the center of the stage. I also placed a hand painted “R” painted by: Audrey Hughes Walker, and balance it with two Doric columns.
